Recupero Edificio Anni '70_ Udine

Oggetto d’intervento è un edificio degli anni ’70 a destinazione mista residenziale-uffici- magazzini. Il lavoro progettuale si è concentrato sulla pelle dell’edificio, mantenendo pressoché inalterata la struttura, con l’obiettivo di dare una nuova unità architettonica coerente con i volumi e le forme del fabbricato esistente.

La facciata sulla strada privata viene realizzata con un solido basamento rivestito in pietra d’Istria disposta a corsi orizzontali, mentre sulla parte alta la facciata diviene leggera ed essenziale grazie alla finitura a marmorino bianco; la percezione dello sviluppo in lunghezza dell’edificio è ulteriormente sottolineata dalla presenza di sottili marcapiani. L’intervento è proseguito con le sostituzioni del manto di copertura, usando la lamiera in zinco-titanio, nonché con la modifica delle forometrie e la sostituzione di tutti gli infissi.

Nella ristrutturazione dell’interno si è posta particolare attenzione alla realizzazione dell’appartamento all’ultimo piano dell’edificio. I nuovi spazi progettati prendono origine da un asse distributivo longitudinale (corridoio centrale), perpendicolare all’ingresso, su cui si affacciano le stanze e i servizi della zona notte. Alla fine del corridoio, dal lato opposto all’ingresso, troviamo il soggiorno e la cucina che sono a diretto contatto con il nuovo terrazzo realizzato nell’estremità sud-ovest, là dove esistevano dei magazzini, ora demoliti e sostituiti da un nuovo corpo di due piani fuori terra.

Gli interni trovano naturale continuità nel terrazzo che si sviluppa su due livelli sfalsati, una prima parte coperta con pavimento in pietra e controsoffitto in doghe di legno sbiancato, e una seconda parte scoperta, che si raggiunge scendendo due gradini,  pavimentata in legno da esterni. Con lo stesso legno è stato realizzato un sedile fisso a “L” in un angolo del terrazzo circondato dalle piante. Ad accentuare il senso di tranquillità dell’ambiente, la presenza dell’acqua e di piante acquatiche all’interno di una piccola vasca di forma rettangolare che affianca i gradini tra i due livelli. Molti degli arredi interni sono fissi e realizzati su disegno. Tutto il pavimento della casa è realizzato in legno Wengè a doghe larghe e finito ad olio.

Nell’intero progetto c’è la volontà di realizzare un ambiente domestico capace di dare il massimo comfort ai suoi abitanti, un insieme di spazio, materia e luce dove si svolgono gradevolmente le azioni quotidiane dell’abitare.

The project centres around a building from the 1970s used for housing, offices and warehouses. The design work concentrated on the skin of the building, leaving the structure almost unaltered with the aim of delivering new architectural unity in keeping with the volumes and forms of the existing building.

The façade on the private road was constructed with a solid base clad with Istrian stone arranged in horizontal courses, while the upper part of the façade becomes light and elemental thanks to the white marmorino finish; the perception of the building's length is further emphasized by thin stringcourses. The work continued with the replacement of the roof surface, using zinc-titanium sheets, as well as with alterations to the size of the windows and doors and the replacement of all the casings.

In the restructuring of the interior, particular attention was given to the creation of an apartment on the top floor of the building. The new spaces designed originate from a longitudinal distribution axis (central corridor), perpendicular to the entrance, which the rooms and bathrooms of the sleeping area face onto. At the end of the corridor, on the side opposite the entrance, we find the living room and kitchen which are in direct contact with the new terrace created in the south-west end, once home to the warehouses, now demolished and replaced by a new two-storey structure.

The interiors find natural continuity in the terrace which is on two different levels: the first part is covered and has stone paving with a false ceiling of bleached wooden planks, whereas the second part is open and can be reached by going down two steps paved in outdoor wood. Fixed L-shaped seating has been constructed with the same wood in a corner of the terrace surrounded by plants. The sense of peacefulness in the setting is accentuated by the presence of water and aquatic plants in a small rectangular basin which sits alongside the steps between both levels. Many of the interior furnishings are fixed and custom-made. All the paving in the house is made of wide slats of Wenge wood with an oil finish.

The whole design aims to create a domestic environment capable of providing the highest level of comfort to its inhabitants, an ensemble of space, materials and light where carrying out everyday activities is enjoyable.
