In un'abitazione degli anni '20 nel centro storico della città di Udine si è realizzato un nuovo piano interrato di circa 60 mq dedicato al wellness. Questo nuovo ambiente è caratterizzato dalla presenza di una piscina di 9x3 metri, un bagno turco in muratura e una doccia di ampie dimensioni con idromassaggio.

Dovendo sfruttare per la zona wellness un luogo chiuso, introverso e di dimensioni contenute, si è cercato di valorizzare al massimo la qualità dell’ambiente tramite l'uso e l’accostamento di materiali con superfici di diversa natura, ma tutti con qualità funzionali, estetiche e tattili ricercate. La pavimentazione è stata realizzata in lastre di granito nero fiammato e spazzolato, dalla superficie irregolare e morbida allo stesso tempo. Gli arredi e parte della controsoffittatura sono in legno di abete sbiancato con finitura opaca. In corrispondenza della vasca della piscina, sul soffitto e sulla parete di fondo sono state installate delle pannellature rivestite in lastre di acciaio inossidabile lucidato a specchio che, oltre a celare diverse componenti impiantistiche, grazie alla loro riflessione creano un effetto di espansione dello spazio interno. La vasca è stata rivestita con piastrelle ceramiche di colore bianco. Le pareti e il sedile del bagno turco sono rivestiti in mosaico vetroso arrotondato di colore blu notte.

Grande attenzione è stata posta al sistema di illuminazione, in grado di trasformare l’ambiente creando molteplici suggestioni grazie a un sistema integrato di cromoterapia. La realizzazione di questo spazio ha richiesto uno stretto coordinamento tra la parte architettonica e quella impiantistica che, pur non essendo visibile, svolge un ruolo fondamentale per dare il giusto comfort.

A new basement level of around 60 sq m dedicated to wellness has been created in a house from the 1920s, in the historical centre of the city of Udine. This new environment has a 9 x 3 metre swimming pool, a Turkish bath built of masonry and a large shower with hydro-massage.

Required to make the best use of an enclosed, introverted and compact space for the wellness area, we sought to enhance the quality of the environment through the use and combination of materials with different surfaces, but all with functional, aesthetic and refined tactile qualities. The flooring was made of slabs of flamed and brushed black granite with an irregular surface but soft at the same time. The furnishings and part of the false ceiling are made of bleached spruce wood with a matte finish. Panels covered with sheets of mirror-polished stainless steel were installed by the swimming pool, on the ceiling above and the wall behind it; as well as concealing various components of the plant systems, through their reflection they create an expansive effect in the interior space. The swimming pool is clad with white ceramic tiles. The walls and the seat in the Turkish bath are covered with midnight blue rounded glass mosaic tiles.

Great attention was given to the lighting system, which is capable of transforming the atmosphere by creating multiple effects thanks to an integrated chromatherapy system. The creation of this space required close coordination between the architectural aspects and the plant systems which, being out of sight, perform a key role in delivering the right level of comfort.
